Unlock was born out of a love for children and a deeply rooted belief that all kids do well when they have the right tools.

Rachel Hoffman is an Executive Functioning Coach with 10+ years of teaching experience. After graduating from the Bank Street College of Education with a Masters in Childhood General and Special Education, she began her journey at The Parkside School, a school for children with special learning needs on the Upper West Side.

From the start, Rachel saw her students as unique individuals, each with a particular set of strengths and struggles. She knew she had to design a space and teach skills that would empower them to feel competent and successful. Rachel’s classroom was intentionally structured with materials and routines that encouraged effective problem-solving and adaptability. She created thoughtful and personalized interventions that empowered her students to take risks and tackle obstacles. Time and time again, she found that once she equipped her students with the right tools, they could unleash their potential - academically, socially and emotionally.

These “tools” are executive functioning tools; techniques, strategies and resources designed to help people stay organized, set goals, handle emotions and make decisions.

Since her time at Parkside, Rachel has become a mom to Mia & Jack. They’ve brought cuteness and chaos (of course!) and have offered Rachel an important new lens. Rachel gets it; parents only want the best for their children, and when their kids struggle, they struggle.

Through Unlock, Rachel is equipping children with the tools they need to be capable, independent learners and flexible thinkers, academically and beyond. Rachel knows that all kids can succeed once they know how. She is excited for you to see that too.
